Today I collected the Social Studies books. I started early to give kids a chance to find their books because in each class there are two or three kids who have no idea where their book may be located. I did issue "Book Fine" slips to those kids who didn't have their books today, but I will not turn them in to the office until the end of the day Thursday, June 6. The fine for a missing Social Studies book is $36.00; a damaged book fine is $9.00. If a book has a cover almost completely torn off, I consider that damage. Our books are old, but I did not issue a book with a "hanging" cover this year.
